Our story began in 2005 when making ends meet from my job was challenging. The thought of Christmas shopping was out of the question. I decided to give tamales as Christmas gifts as well as selling tamales in front of a local grocery store. This had to be one of the most humbling and rewarding experiences in my life. As destiny would have it, a woman that tried our tamales turned out to be the organizer for the San Jose Tamale Festival. She encouraged me to not only enter my tamales in the contest, but to have a booth. We made 5,000 tamales in two weeks and left the Festival as the #1 Best Traditional Tamale. The story continued.
